Overhaul of Cylinder Liner is essential in order to keep lubrication oil consumption on a minimum. Surface roughness must be correct and ovality must be minimized.


Honing is not just a matter of roughness

Today most of the manufacturer recommend plateau honing. Plateau honing is a two-stage process. First stage is to hone the liner rough and next stage is to hone the liner with finer stone in order to remove the top of the rough surface. 

Plateau honing obtains a smooth surface and minimize the friction but keep necessary grooves for the lubrication oil.
Minimize consumption of lubrication oil, will reduce emissions in exhaust gas and reduce the operation cost of the engine.

New is not necessarily best!
A Cylinder Liner with a wear and damage can in most cases be repaired at a price up to 75% less than buying a new one. It can even improve life cycles compared to new components from the manufacturer – and with even better delivery times!

Availability and fast response are key to our mutual success, and at the same time we can offer to repair parts which often would be stated as non-repairable.
Common problems can most likely be repaired in our workshop and along comes always a 24-month liability for shortages and defects.

Our Cylinder Liner service includes:

 

    • Each Cylinder Liner is cleaned and has its internal diameter measured. The O-ring grooves, landing- and sealing-surfaces are inspected. Landing surface are inspected for cracks with penetrant and black light.

    • The Cylinder Liners are honed, re-establishing the liner geometry of the entire running surface. The measurements are checked.

    • The reconditioning is documented in a report, including roughness measurements, which is provided to the customer upon completion.

    • If the initial inspection of the Cylinder Liner indicates that reconditioning is not possible, the liner will be rejected. The customer will be informed, and new liners will be quoted.

PJ Diesel component workshop is located in our workshop in Rødby, south of Copenhagen, and is specialized in the reconditioning of major engine components. We offer service, repair and maintenance of all four-stroke engines and we have a team of facory trained engineers working around the clock to service our customers.
