In 1957, Hartchrom AG in Steinach am Bodensee in Switzerland started specializing in surface treatments. In 2000, the company was restructured as a holding company, STI - Surface Technologies International Holding, and in 2007 it became part of the construction and technology corporation AFG Arbonia-Forster-Holding AG. Today there are seven production facilities, around 600 employees and global representation.
STI Hartchrom innovative coating system for grooves in piston crowns and for piston rings for two- and four-stroke diesel and gas engines combines excellent wear protection with corrosion protection properties and good lubrication. It is suitable for processing new components as well as for the overhaul of already coated or uncoated components.
